This is just a list to help me remember how many movies I’ve seen in 2012 and what I thought about them. Okay, yeah.

IN THE THEATER:

  • Beauty and the Beast 3D — January 16 — I will admit that I am a huge sucker for Disney movies and will probably go see the Little Mermaid and whatever else Disney releases in 3D even though I own it on VHS and have seen it a thousand times. I saw the Lion King 3D last year, and I mean, come on. It’s the Lion King. Soooo the 3D was not GREAT, but there were some parts that were pretty cool. Was it worth paying $11 to see? Maybe not. But I’m still glad I did.
  • Act of Valor — February 29 — I actually really liked this movie. I normally don’t like war movies very much because they scare me, but I thought this one was really well-done. I liked that the actors were actual active-duty US Navy SEALS. It just made it really realistic. It was just really intense. I didn’t know what to do with myself afterward. I saw this with LaMora, Micah (white), Lauren, Jordan, and Ryan. We all just kind of stood outside the theater for a few minutes afterward while we tried to process. Haha.
  • John Carter — March 10 — I saw this with Jesse, Andrew, and Megan on our “fake double date” :) Jesse picked this movie. I thought it was okay. I didn’t really love it or hate it. Some of it was kind of cheesy. It did keep me interested, so I guess that’s good? I probably wouldn’t watch it again, though.
  • Hunger Games — April 1 — IT WAS SO GOOD. It was a really good book-to-movie adaptation, and I looooved the books. So I pretty much thought it was amazing. I will definitely be buying this one the second it comes out. See, the reason I waited until today instead of seeing it at the midnight premiere was a certain someone named Jordan. He went on a mission trip to Mexico with TNL (along with Katie, sad day because I missed her for a whole week), and he wasn’t here for the premiere. Since he’s the one who turned me on to the books in the first place last year, I told him I would wait for him to get back to see it, so we could both see it for the first time together. (What an awesome friend am I?!) BUT he saw it without me today! What a punk! But he went with the TNL crew, so I guess I forgive him… That doesn’t mean I’m going to let him forget it, though. Haha. Anyway, I saw it with Jon and Kyla tonight at the Varsity. It was just… aslfkjsdflkajsdfasd. So good.
  • The Avengers — May 4 — The disclaimer to this is that I went to the midnight premiere, so it felt more like May 3rd to me, but that really doesn’t matter right now. Anyway, HOLY CRAP. I really, really, really liked this movie. I can’t even believe how much I liked it. I didn’t think I was into superheroes… Am I… A NERD?! Haha. Thor is my BOY!!
  • Snow White & the Huntsman — June 1 — Same disclaimer as above: This was a midnight premiere, so it’s still May 31st to me. Haha. I saw this with Katie, Jordan, Sarah, Melissa, LaMora, Milan, Kayla, Shauntel, and Shelby. (I did not know Shelby before tonight. She’s friends with Shauntel.) I really liked this! More than I thought I would, actually! I did go in with the expectation to like it, but I liked it even beyond that. Kristen Stewart didn’t screw it up (as Kayla said on the way out), Chris Hemsworth is gorgeous (of course), Charlize Theron was scary and awesome, and I just really liked it. Okay, yup.
  • Promethus — June 9 — I saw this in 3D with Jordan, Brandon, Kayla, and Kristen. I liked it, although a lot of it freaked me out. There was lots of weird, alien gore. Haha. It was just kind of gross. Overall, though, I thought it was okay. I probably wouldn’t watch it again, but I don’t regret seeing it.
  • Hotel Transylvania — November 11 — I went to this with JD, Cheryl, Thomas, Matt, and Megan. JD paid for me, which was really sweet of him! I really liked this movie, even more than I thought I would. I thought it was really cute!
  • The Hobbit — December 13 — Okay, this was a midnight premiere, so I suppose it was the 14th, but whatever. I saw this with JD, Jesse, Logan, and Cody, so I was the only girl in our group haha. We ended up having to sit in those horrible front two rows, but it wasn’t as terrible as I had expected. I really liked the movie, but I haven’t read the book. JD had a nice, long rant about it in the car on the way home :)
  • Breaking Dawn Part 2 — December 27 — I watched this with Mom and Angie. I actually liked it more than I expected to! The end threw me for a loop at first, but I was satisfied with it once I figured out what was actually going on ;)
AT HOME:
  • Sherlock Holmes — January 12 — I’ve already seen this a lot of times!
  • Bridesmaids — January 22 — I watched this with LaMora and Rachel! It was pretty much just as hilarious and wonderful as I’d hoped it would be. A+.
  • A Smile as Big as the Moon — January 29 — I didn’t really have any intentions to watch this movie. It was one of those, “Oh, yeah, that looks good, but I’ll probably never watch it,” things. But I was watching Once Upon a Time at LaMora’s house, and it came on right after. She wanted to watch it, so we did, and I ended up liking it a lot. It was really sweet and — as cheesy as I think this word is — heartwarming. I really liked it.
  • Contagion — February 24 — I liked this movie. I didn’t love it, I didn’t hate it. I just liked it. It was really interesting and kept me wondering the whole time, but I just thought the ending was a little weak. I guess it just didn’t give me enough closure. But I did think the acting and the plot were both really good. I watched this at Melissa’s house with a bunch of people from SOMA: LaMora, (White) Micah, Melissa (hostess), Melissa (other one), Haley, Casey, Juli, Jordan, Lauren, Natalie (whom I did not know), Megan (Potater), Meghan, Maggie, Amanda, Kristen, and I can’t remember if that was everybody, but it’s close enough for me. Haha.
  • A Knight’s Tale — February 25 — This was my DVD, so I have obviously seen this movie before. But I definitely like it. Heath Ledger. What’s not to like? I watched this at Melissa’s house with essentially the same group as last night but minus a few people. Tonight was Jordan, Juli, Casey, LaMora, Kristen, Meghan, Megan, Melissa, Maggie, Sarah, Lauren, and (again) I can’t remember whether that was everybody. But meh.
  • Easy A — March 1 — I have seen this movie a LOT of times, but watching it tonight was a lot of fun anyway. I watched it at LaMora’s house with her, Kristen, Danci, Emily, Jordan (although he was only there for the end), Kat, Juli, Megan, Carly, and I think that was it. Tonight was a lot of fun. :)
  • The Road to El Dorado — March 16 — I actually hadn’t seen this before, believe it or not! I thought it was pretty cute, but I wasn’t paying an incredible amount of attention to it because there was a lot of conversation and whatnot. I watched this at Kristen and Jessica’s house with the two of them, LaMora, Katie, Jordan, Kayla, and Wicah. We were all getting ready to go over to Kat’s house to celebrate her birthday but had to wait for her to get off work.
  • The Kids Are All Right — March 25 — I really liked this movie a lot. I bought it for $2 at the Blockbuster in Medford that’s closing. It was one of the Blockbuster Online rentals or something, and it didn’t have a case, just a sleeve thing. Therefore… SUPER CHEAP. And it was actually really good. It was the right amount funny and the right amount sad. The only thing I didn’t really like was that I’m lacking a bit of closure about the end… But it was good nonetheless, and I’ll probably end up watching it again. Hey, for $2, what’s not to like?
  • The Dark Knight — April 4 — Surprisingly, this was the first time I’d ever watched this! I really liked it. I watched it after a soccer game at LaMora’s house with her, Katie, Wicah, Jesse, Jordan, Kayla, Lauren, Mariah, and Sarah. The only people who stayed to the very end were me, Jesse, Katie, and obviously LaMora. (But Katie was asleep through most of it, so I’m not sure it counts. Haha.)
  • The Little Rascals — April 8 — I can’t even tell you how many times I’ve seen this. I didn’t watch it all the way through, but I caught about half of it. LaMora was watching it when I came over to her house, so I joined in, of course! :)
  • She’s the Man — April 8 — I have seen this movie SO many times, and it still makes me laugh like a freak every time I watch it. So funny. SO funny.
  • Bring It On — April 28 — This is another movie that I could watch a million times and still adore. It’s so funny!
  • Thor — May 1 — I watched this at Kristen and Jessica’s house with Kristen, LaMora, Austin/Steen, and Brandon, who is back from Germany! We’re gearing up to see the midnight premiere of the Avengers on Thursday night with Focus :) I actually liked this a LOT more than I thought I was going to! Go figure!!
  • Captain America — May 2 — I Redboxed this and just finished it a few minutes ago. I also got Iron Man for tomorrow and am prepared to watch Iron Man 2 on Netflix immediately after ;) Once I finish with that, I will have seen all the necessary movies to watch the Avengers (except the Incredible Hulk, but I don’t really care that much…). Bam! I also liked Captain America a lot more than I thought I was going to. What’s with me liking Marvel movies more than I thought I was going to lately?! I have high expectations for the Avengers now, though. I’m even more excited. At first, I was just going to go because everyone else was, but now I’m actually kind of stoked!
  • Iron Man — May 3 — I definitely liked this! It was just really good. I think I’m definitely into Marvel… Huh. Who knew? And RDJ is always a good choice ;)
  • 50/50 — Approximately May 6 — I was reading an article about Joseph Gordon-Levitt today (July 22), and it mentioned 50/50. I was like, “I know I’ve seen that. What did I write about it? I know I liked it.” So I came here to check, and BEHOLD. I forgot to write about it. So I’m not sure exactly what day I watched it, but I Redboxed it and thought it was really good. I don’t remember specifics about what I thought of it, which is why I try to write these immediately after watching them. But oh, well. I remember liking it, and that’s what counts.
  • Life As We Know It — May 16 — I watched this with LaMora and Katie. I thought it was pretty cute. Best quote of the night: “She makes a beautiful cat.” - Katie on Katherine Heigl’s face paint in one scene.
  • Cyberbully — May 20 — I watched this because I had nothing else to do haha. It was really predictable and cheesy…
  • Mean Girls — May 26 — I have seen this soooo many times, and it’s still funny every time. I watched this with Karli, Jennette, and Austin at Austin’s grandma’s house (where he lives).
  • Iron Man — May 27 — I watched this at Melissa’s house with Katie, Sheena, LaMora, Lauren, Donnetta, Andrew, Ryan, Jordan, Austin (Steen), and I think that was it, but there may have been more people… Hmm. I’ve already seen it (as noted above), but I like this movie. Yeah, boy!
  • Iron Man 2 — May 27 — I watched this with the same people as above (except Sheena and LaMora). I liked it a lot. I had only seen the first half of it before now, and I’m glad I got to finish it! Our original plan for the night had been to watch the Hulk, but Melissa couldn’t find it at Redbox, and she hadn’t seen either of the Iron Man movies. I’m glad we ended up watching them instead of the Hulk, though. Haha.
  • Moulin Rouge! — June 8 — Celebrated the end of dead week at Kristen and Jessica’s house with Kristen, Sarah, Lauren, LaMora, Micah (Wicah), Jordan, Kristina, and Kayla. I’ve seen this movie already, but it had been a while, so it was nice to refresh my memory. I still like it a lot. It’s very strange and fantastic, and it has awesome music. Yes, please.
  • Avalon High — June 28 — I watched this on Netflix mostly because I was DIYing a shirt and needed something for background noise. It was pretty cheesy and not nearly as good as the book was (plus some parts were really switched up. What the heck?). But overall, it was pretty cute. I probably wouldn’t watch it again, though. Also, the girl who played Ali ran really strangely, but she was supposed to be a track star or something. Huh.
  • Teen Wolf — June 30 — I had wanted to watch this for a while because I’ve been watching the show since it came out. The movie was a LOT different than the show. I really don’t see how they’re related besides the name, Scott being a werewolf, and the fact that Scott and Stiles have the same names in both. Haha. I thought it was a pretty typical 80s teen movie, and I did like it. Michael J. Fox, you da man.
  • 21 Jump Street — July 2 — I watched this at Austin’s parents’ house with him and Karli. I thought it was hilarious. This was just an all-around A+ movie to me. So funny.
  • Big Miracle — July 5 — I watched this at Astrid’s house with her and Karli. Karli and I went to bring her flowers, and she was so excited to see us that we ended up staying for dinner and a movie. Haha. She made us penne pasta with red sauce and cheese sandwiches with creamy Havarti. Yummm. Anyway, I really liked this movie a lot. It actually sort of made me cry. Plus John Krasinski… Mmmm.
  • What About Bob — August 13 — I watched this at Ken’s house after Focus with Thomas, JD, Casey, Elli, Amarissa, Tim, and Austin. We all jumped in Ken’s car and headed up to his house (which is, like, ON Mt. Ashland basically haha). I thought it was a really funny movie. (What I found even funnier, though, was that Thomas — our resident psych major — had the movie essentially memorized.) I enjoyed it a lot.
  • Pocahontas — August 19 — I’ve obviously seen this movie a lot of times and love it. I don’t think I really need to say more. Haha.
  • Hercules — August 23 — I LOVE THIS MOVIE. Fin.
  • Sherlock Holmes — August 28 — To be fair, I didn’t finish the whole thing, but I’ve seen it enough times to say that I really didn’t have to ;) I’ll probably finish it tomorrow.
  • The Great Mouse Detective — August 28 — I loved this movie! I loved being able to recognize the Sherlock Holmes references throughout it now that I’m familiar with the stories and characters. When I was a kid, I obviously wasn’t able to do that. So it was fun :)
  • Robin Hood — August 28 — We’re talking Disney here, folks. I watched this tonight for the first time since I was a kid. This was one of my favorite movies growing up, and now I remember why! I still love it.
  • The Last Song — September 5 — I don’t know why I even bother to watch this movie because I’ve seen it a bunch of times, and I always know what’s coming and that I’m going to cry at it, but I do it anyway. Maybe I’m a masochist? Haha. Anyway, as much as I dislike Miley Cyrus for the most part, I really like this movie. (And yes, I read the book before I watched the movie!) It’s heartwarming, heartbreaking, and touching. What can I say? Nicholas Sparks, you know how to pull the heartstrings.
  • The Princess Diaries — September 30 — I’ve seen this movie a lot of times, but I’ll never get sick of it (even though the books are better!). Katie was housesitting for the Baldricas, and Sophie came over and wanted to watch it, so we put it on. Then JD came over, so Sophie, JD, and I watched it. Hahah.
  • Braveheart — October 6 — I watched this at JD’s Man Night with him, Jesse, Jordan, Melissa, Calen (Melissa’s brother), Katie, Sophie, Ken, Kristen, Thomas (although he was only there for the end), and Andrew. I did really like it, but it was very bloody. And JD said he felt bad because he kept looking over and seeing me burying my face in the pillow I brought with me (I knew I was going to need it). Hahah. The story was excellent, though. Just so much gore…
  • The Help — October 27 — I watched this at Malia’s house with Andrew, JD, and Katie. Andrew is housesitting for Malia’s family right now, and they said he could have friends over, so we went over and watched a movie. It was really good. I read the book over the summer and really liked it, and I was happy with the way the movie was done, as well, although there were some parts that were kind of different. I guess you can’t expect everything to be exactly the same in a book-to-movie adaptation, though, and overall, I thought it was really well-done.
  • The Road to El Dorado — October 29 — I watched this with a BUNCH of people after Focus at Katie’s and my house. We had Tim, Claire, Seth, JD, Cheryl, Sophie, Andrew, Kelsey, Cory, and Jordan over, and it was really awesome. We both really liked having our house be the cool house to go to after Focus ;) The movie was good, I’ve seen it before obviously haha. But I paid a lot more attention this time than I did the last time we watched it!
  • The Princess Bride — November 3 — I adore this movie! I watched it at my house with Katie and JD. JD and I love it, and Katie had never seen it, so we watched it. I hadn’t seen it since high school in Mrs. Hillman’s class, so it was fun to watch it again. So good!
  • Dark Shadows — November 7 — Jordan and Jesse were over hanging out with Katie and me, and they went to Redbox to pick a movie for us… And this is what they came back with. I don’t want to say that I hated it, but I do want to say that I didn’t like it very much (which was surprising because I love Johnny Depp). It was not very funny, not very exciting, and way overly-sexual for my taste. I wouldn’t watch it again.
  • Courageous — November 15 — I watched this with JD, Andrew, and Katie at the Rosendlunds’, where Andrew is housesitting again. We started it at 3 AM (technically on November 16th, but it was still the 15th to me, okay?!) just because we are wild and crazy kids who stay up late on the weekends playing board games called the Crazy Cat Lady Game (not kidding) and watch Jesus movies ;) It was super-good! It had a really good message. Plus there were some EPIC scenes!
  • Babel — November 30 — I watched this with JD and Katie. Katie had to watch it for a paper she had to write for her comm class, so we watched it with her. It was weird, but it was pretty good. There was a lot of random nudity hahah. But I did like it overall.
  • The Chronicles of Narnia: Voyage of the Dawn Treader — December 16 — I watched this while working on the DIY portion of my friends’ Christmas gifts, so it was a little hard for me to pay attention. But I bought it for $10 at Target when I went there with Sophie. I caught most of the first half with no problem, but when it got down to more of the DIY-type stuff, my focus was mainly on that haha. So I got bits and pieces of the last half, enough to understand the story and what was going on, and I liked it, but I’m going to have to watch it again.
  • The Lucky One — December 18 — I watched this with Jennette, Astrid, and Karli at Astrid’s house on the day Jennette came home for break. She’ll be here until the 11th of January, I believe. I liked this movie more than I expected to, but I couldn’t help thinking that the main girl looked too old for Zac Efron the whole time haha. But I did like it, and the kid was beyond adorable.
  • Elf — December 24 — I watched this with Sophie and Brandon at Sophie’s house. I didn’t stay for the whole thing, but I’m counting it because I’ve seen it a million times, and I love it!!! ;)
